Reading Journal Entry Guidelines – Journal entries are due via blackboard upload before the beginning of the Thursday class session. Journal entries should be approximately one (1) page in length (double spaced in 12pt. font). Submit your entry in either a .doc or .docx file format (you have free access to Microsoft Office 365 as a USC Upstate student)
Week 10 Journal Entry Question – Identify and describe some of the most significant challenges facing African Americans during the age of Jim Crow. Thinking comparatively between the activism of Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells, The Niagara Movement, and Marcus Garvey, which early modern era activist had the best approach to addressing the challenges of Jim Crow. Make an argument for the effectiveness of the approach of the person that you choose. Be sure to identify the strategies and tactics that they used to fight against Jim Crow, and (referring back to the section on “The Contours of Black Political Thought”) their ideological orientation.
